Why is tennis special to you?

Tennis has made my family very active and has motivated us to enjoy family time on the court. It has brought us a lot of excitement while our daughters are playing Junior Team Tennis, and it has made all of us better sportspeople overall and made us socially active with other players.

How long have your children been playing tennis?

Both my girls started playing tennis at a very early age (4) and have been participating in USTA tournaments since 2016.

Why do you think it is important for your kids to play tennis?

Tennis has improved the physical and mental health for both my kids. It has helped them build strong personalities with lots of patience and a positive outlook.

What is your most memorable tennis moment?

When my daughter Arushi played her first Mercer Summer league match, it lasted 2 1/2 hours, and it was time to turn off the lights at 10 p.m. The facility manager extended the court time for the match to finish. It was very intense and one of the longest matches she has played to date.

What has tennis taught you about your kids?

Tennis has helped develop their overall personalities. It requires patience and a positive attitude, and both my kids have learned these skills.

How have you been involved in tennis in your community?

I have volunteered a few times to be team manager for Junior Team Tennis. I have interacted with lot of kids and parents and helped them in facilitating the matches. Some of the families have become personal friends.

Is there any other interesting information that you would like share about yourself?

I have a master’s degree in psychology, which has helped me many times to understand my kids’ situation during the match play. I have been able to encourage them to maintain a positive attitude and stay focused during challenging situations.
